Please note the change in the deadline for submitting your application. Please note the first meeting is postponed by a week.
In this seminar, we will study influential research articles on stochastic processes and networks in biology (and finances). We will explore a broad range of concepts and mathematical models that are fundamental for present-day research on the physics of life. Every student will have the opportunity to pick a topic and is then expected to read the assigned articles and to present the topic in the seminar. While the focus of the seminar is on theory, the presentations should also contain the relevant biology and experimental aspects.
The seminar is intended for students with a good understanding of theoretical physics. The course “Stochastic Dynamics of Particles and Fields” can be taken in parallel and the seminar is designed to complement this course.
Organization
The seminar will take place on
- Tuesday, 16:00–18:00 c.t, A 348, Theresienstraße 37*
Credits: 3 ECTS
*Please note that the lecture and exercise classes will start later in the semester than usual and might be held online due to the ongoing corona virus situation. Check here for more general information.
