Introduction to Nanoscience – Overview

  • Overview

The interdisciplinary course on Nanoscience - an initiative from the Center of Nanoscience (CeNS) - covers a diverse array of topics to provide master's students in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a comprehensive understanding. The course begins with the nano-chemistry module, which explores nano particles, quantum dots, and colloids, including the synthesis of colloidal nanocrystals and their surface chemistry, along with practical demonstrations on perovskite quantum dot synthesis. Next, in the nano-physics module, students will delve into optical spectroscopy, electron microscopy, low-dimensional nanomaterials, and the photophysical properties of halide perovskites. Following this, the nano-biology module will introduce topics such as DNA and protein nanotechnology, synthetic biology, and nanomedicine. Finally, the nano-materials module will cover synthesis and characterization methods, the comparison of bulk versus nano properties of materials, and the applications of nanomaterials in energy and sustainability. This structured approach ensures a well-rounded education in Nanoscience, preparing students for advanced research and innovation in this rapidly evolving field.
