Ultrafast Phenomena - from the Roots to Elementary Scales of Time and Space (Festkolloquium Wolfgang Kaiser)

This presentation is dedicated to the celebration of the 95th birthday of Professor Wolfgang Kaiser. First, an overview of his achievements will be given with a selection drawn from a large number of fundamental contributions to the area of optics and lasers in general, focusing especially on his seminal role for the field of ultrafast dynamics in condensed matter. Subsequently, also the extraordinary success of the candidate as a scientific mentor will be elucidated. Eventually, this discussion will lead to a closing with some recent work on ultrafast phenomena down to the level of individual electrons and photons interacting on increasingly elementary dimensions of time and space.
