Cryo-EM studies of amyloids
Prof. Dr. Gunnar Schröder (Forschungszentrum Jülich)
Datum: 20.05.2019 17:15 Uhr – 18:30 Uhr
Ort: Hörsaal H030 der Fakultät für Physik, LMU München, Schellingstraße 4, München
Amyloids are associated with many diseases. The recent breakthrough in the cryo-EM technique has made it possible to study to structure of amyloid fibrils by cryo-EM to high resolution. The technique will be introduced and applications to different amyloid structures presented, in particular the structure of the amyloid-β fibril (Aβ1-42), which is involved in Alzheimer’s disease. Furthermore, new image processing methods will be presented to reconstruct macromolecular motions from single-particle image data.
