Giant planets at home and abroad

Prof. Dr. Ravit Helled (Institute for Computational Science, Center for Theoretical Astrophysics & Cosmology, University of Zurich, Switzerland)

Datum:  12.06.2017 17:15 Uhr – 18:30 Uhr

Ort: Hörsaal H030 der Fakultät für Physik/LMU München, Schellingstraße 4, München

The detection of giant exoplanets together with measurements of the Solar-System’s gas giants, offer a unique opportunity to improve our understanding of giant planet formation, evolution, and internal structure. I will discuss the leading giant planet formation models, summarize our current knowledge of the interiors of Jupiter and Saturn, and present the expected data from space missions and their link to giant planet theory.
