Dr. Alfredo Ferrari (CERN, Geneva/Switzerland)

Datum:  12.06.2014 16:00 Uhr – 17:00 Uhr

Ort: Seminar room 127 (Physics Department TUM, Physik II, ground floor/north)

The FLUKA code is the tool used at CERN and elsewhere for a variety of tasks, ranging from beam-machine interactions, to shielding, radioprotection, dosimetry, experiment analysis and medical applications.
The code is undergoing continuous developments in order to cope with new problems and challenges.
A short general introduction of the FLUKA physics models will be given, as well as a list of field  of applications.
The latest developments both in the physics models and the ancillary tools will be discussed together with examples of impact on applications. Particular emphasis will be on developments related to CERN and medical physics applications, with specific examples discussed in details. Finally plans for future work will be presented.
