Jet quenching in effective theories

Dr. Michael Benzke (TU München, Physik-Department T30f)

Datum:  05.06.2014 16:00 Uhr – 17:00 Uhr

Ort: Seminar room 127 (Physics Department TUM, Physik II, ground floor/north)

A promising approach to study the properties of deconfined QCD matter (e.g. the quark-gluon plasma) is to analyze its interactions with jets. Presently, experiments probing this new state of matter in heavy-ion
collisions are being performed at RHIC and LHC. A recent theoretical development involves the application of effective field theories for a more systematic approach to the calculation of jet-medium interactions.
In this talk, the basic ideas will be introduced and some current issues are discussed.
