The phase transitions of strongly interacting matter at finite temperature and density play an important role in the history of our universe and may be also relevant for the physics in the interior of neutron stars. Heavy ion collisions at RHIC, LHC and the future FAIR facility probe these transitions. We report on recent theoretical results for the phase diagram of QCD obtained with functional methods.
