Prof. Ulrich Schubert, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena

Datum:  23.11.2012 um 15:30 Uhr

Ort: Kleiner Physik-Hörsaal, Fakultät für Physik

The molecular engineering of complex macromolecules can be performed nowadays using advanced organic reactions like "click chemistry" as well as living and controlled polymerization methods. As a result, special stimuli-responsive and self-healing properties as well as complex morphologies can be targeted. The detailed characterization of the resulting advanced materials can be performed by combinations of state-of-the-art techniques. Moreover, the application of parallel synthesis methods, combinatorial approaches as well as high-throughput characterization and formulation techniques opens versatile opportunities to establish systematic libraries of compounds in order to elucidate structure-property relationships. The combination with microstructuring and -deposition methods as well as nanolithography further allows the precise preparation and utilization of functional nanostructures and -materials. The lecture will provide an overview on the current state of design, preparation, characterization and application of macromolcular nano(bio)materials. Examples will cover nanoparticles for drug delivery, imaging, self-healing materials as well as new battery systems.
